The impact method is to use a high-speed high-pressure water stream to break up the molten steel, so that the liquid metal falls into the water to cool and solidify, and the final pellet is formed. The disadvantage of this method is that the steel pellet has a high hollow ratio and is easy to form a shaped pellet.
Centrifugal method is to pour molten steel into a high-speed rotating disc. A lot of small holes are opened around the disc. The molten steel flies from the tray and falls into the water under the action of centrifugal force to cool into pellets. The effect of centrifugation into pellets is much better than the impact method, which greatly reduces the proportion of hollow steel pellets.
The atomization method is actually a combination of the impact method and the centrifugal method. The molten steel is first placed on the surface of the rotating vertebral body to form a molten metal film, and then atomized into fine droplets and pulled out by centrifugal force and surface tension. At the same time, the cooling water is sprayed along the position perpendicular to the direction of the droplet movement, so that the droplets are rapidly cooled into pellets. The quality and comprehensive mechanical properties of the steel pellets produced by this method are good.
